Attention, citizens of Troy:
The City relied on a very important IRS letter, one that apparently does not exist, to justify taking away firefighter pensions.
So far, this elusive document has managed to avoid:
- 2 federal judges
- 1 state judge
- 180+ firefighters
- Every formal request to actually produce it
Despite all that, the City insists the letter is real and authoritative enough to eliminate pensions, we just aren’t allowed to see it.
Given that it’s been missing for years, we figured the community might want to help.
After all, two courts, one state judge, and an entire fire department couldn’t find it. At this point, Where’s Waldo? seems easier.
If you happen to locate a mysterious IRS letter that:
- Can’t be produced
- Can’t be verified
- But somehow carries enough weight to strip pensions
Please return it to Troy City Hall immediately.
It’s apparently very important, but only when no one asks for it.
