A quick reality check on Troy EMS response times. Before Troy switched to STAR EMS, the system was already exceeding its response standards. Historical data shows:

  • 🚒 First responders: 93% of calls under 5 minutes
  • 🚑 Ambulances: 95% of calls under 8 minutes

Both comfortably beat the 90% compliance target. Now under the STAR EMS contract:
🚑 Priority-1 emergency calls are supposed to arrive within 6 minutes for 90% of calls.

But the most recent reported data shows:
⚠️ Only 71% of Priority-1 calls arrived within 6 minutes.

Not 90%.

71%.

So the current situation is:

  • The old system exceeded its standards
  • The new system is well below its own standard
  • And the City still has not released the raw call-level EMS data for January or February.

Residents deserve a simple answer… Is EMS service in Troy actually improving or getting worse?

Right now the numbers raise more questions than answers. We need raw call data not only for 2026, but years in the past too, if we want to compare.
