Two separate rollover crashes on I-75 in Troy today, including a rollover involving an ambulance responding to the first accident, left the original crash scene reportedly waiting nearly 90 minutes for medical support.
Based on witness reports and radio traffic:
- The first accident occurred northbound on I-75 near the Rochester Rd exit.
- A STAR EMS ambulance was dispatched to that crash.
- That ambulance was then involved in a second rollover crash on southbound I-75 near 14 Mile.
- The second crash scene also involved a vehicle fire, prompting a response from the Troy Fire Department.
Because the responding ambulance was involved in the second crash, police at the first accident were reportedly waiting a long time for another ambulance to arrive. Replacement ambulances responding to the first crash were reportedly coming from outside Troy, including as far away as Pontiac.
At one point well over an hour after the first accident, Troy reportedly requested Madison Heights Fire Department to send one of their rescue units to the original crash scene. It is possible Troy Police may have ultimately transported the patient to the hospital, though that will need to be confirmed once reports are available.
The images below are from public traffic cameras showing the second crash scene on southbound I-75 near 14 Mile, and the first accident awaiting response.
This is still a developing situation, and the exact timeline and response details will only be confirmed once the official accident reports and dispatch records are available. If they become available. Troy has still not provided raw data for January or February 2026, nor have they provided the summary data for February yet.
I will be submitting FOIA requests for the dispatch logs and incident reports so the full sequence of events can be understood.
Most importantly, we hope everyone involved in both crashes is OK, including the people in the original accident who had to wait for medical assistance, as well as the EMS crew involved in the ambulance rollover.

More information will follow once the official records are available.
