In January and February, STAR EMS responded to emergency calls under 6 minutes just 590 out of 767 times.

That’s 76.9%. The contract says… 90%.

So what would it take to fix that?

Over 1,000 emergency runs under 6 mins in a row.

Let that sink in.

  • Not improvement.
  • Not “getting better.”
  • Not “give it time.”

1,003 consecutive calls, all under 6 minutes, just to get back to the minimum. That’s the hole we’re in after just two months.

  • This isn’t a minor issue.
  • This isn’t a rounding error.

This is a system that is nowhere close to meeting expectations.

  • And we’re still being told to wait.
  • Still being given summaries instead of real data.
  • Still being asked to trust the process.

When it comes to emergency response times, this isn’t theoretical. It’s about whether help gets there in time.

It’s time for City Council and the City Manager to stop the experiment and require ambulances in the city as they’re able to do per contract.
